Our Story
Mon Cirrus was born from a simple realization: your files should never feed AI training systems without your consent.
In 2024, we discovered that many cloud providers have terms that allow them to analyze your stored files for "product improvement," which often includes AI model training. Your personal documents, photos, and data could be training AI systems right now. We asked ourselves: why isn't there a simple solution that stops this?
That's when we built Mon Cirrus. A free macOS app that encrypts your files before they reach any cloud service, making it technically impossible for providers to scan them. It also solves another problem: juggling files across Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, and OneDrive. Mon Cirrus combines them all into one simple interface.
Why "Mon Cirrus"?
The name captures what we're building. A "bin" is a container—a place to securely store and organize things. Your files shouldn't be scattered across cloud providers. They should be in one place, protected and secure. Mon Cirrus is that container.
The playful name also reflects our approach to privacy: it doesn't have to be technical, intimidating, or expensive. Privacy should be simple, free, and accessible to everyone.
